Okies & Indies + TFR

Okies & Indies

I have a confession. I am painfully awkward with small talk. Plain and simple, I am not good at it. I often feel clumsy, silly, and nervous with my words. I overly use words like golly, refer to pants as britches, and to top it all off, I never know how to end a conversation. But, I believe in speaking life-giving words.

For the past month, I have focused more diligently on the discipline of being intentional. Weeding out the unnecessary, and holding tight to the things that matter. I have noticed that I now see each part of my life - from the books that I read, how I decorate my home, the food that I eat, to the clothes I purchase (or choose not to purchase...thank you Dave Ramsey) - as an opportunity to make intentional choices. Slowly our home is transforming, and Dusty and I are finding ourselves surrounded by only the things that we value most.

As clumsy as my words may be, i.love.words. I love calligraphy and creativity. I love the written word; especially when those words are transformed into meaningful, creative knick-knacks that we can treasure forever, because our words matter. We fill our homes with decorative pieces lined with words and phrases that reinforce what we believe, represent what we love, our faith, and our humor. Each piece serves as a visible reminder that fill our homes with joy. These simple phrases, scattered about our homes, can make life a little more lovely. We use words each day to build each other up, encourage one another, and they bring laughter into our lives. Recently my friend Lisa, (she wrote a book that you should definitely check out here, and then go follow her on Facebook) reminded me that February, the MONTH OF LOVE, is a great month to #useyourwords.

"Gracious words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the body!" Proverbs 16:24

As I began reading these words, my friend Lynnette, with Okies & Indies, came to mind! She uses the written word, and her insanely artistic talents, in such a meaningful and creative way. She has an Etsy shop full of beautiful hand lettered, truth-filled art for your home, jewelry, or whatever else you can fathom. I am so excited to share her incredible talents with you, as our February #fencerowfind.

My hope in being surrounded with these beautiful visual reminders, rooted in God's truth, is that our hearts and minds will continue to be formed in the likeness of Christ.

Cheers to a month of using our words for love and life.
